Expect[ing] to Thrive: Mountain Mama Maternity Giveaway!

Oh, the clothing I WISH I had had during my pregnancy and nursing days… I am about to share a hilarious photo with you. Hilarious in the I-don’t-want-any-one-to-see-this type of way. But I love you guys, so I will…

I am 8 months pregnant, attempting to snowshoe in Winter Park, CO and it is a whopping eighteen below zero. What on earth to wear? How about an old jacket my husband inherited from work? The only thing large enough to fit over my egg belly. 🙂

Fast forward to post-pregnancy. You know, those days when you finally feel rested and pulled together enough to go on a family hike, but you have to nurse the baby. When I was pregnant they just didn’t make much clothing intended for both active AND nursing mommas. So here is what I did: 1. brought my battery operated breast pump along, found a comfortable tree and got to work. 2. Spent forty-five minutes throwing elbows and wrestling with my t-shirts, attempting to get them high enough to nurse the baby, and low enough to save the nearest hiker from seeing all my stretch marks. I am surprised I am even smiling in the photo below…

Now to introduce you to the clothing I WISH I had! It is fabulous. So fabulous that it almost makes me want to have another baby. Almost :). Here is their mission statement:

MOUNTAIN MAMA exists for a simple reason. Women who play outdoors should have stylish, functional clothing for all stages of life, including maternity. We combine innovative technical fabrics and design to create clothing women can wear comfortably on the trail and in town, before, during and after pregnancy.

And friends, they have succeeded!

Meet my new favorite tank (and I’m not pregnant or nursing anymore…yup, I wear it all the time):

Yays:

  • Fabric so soft you never want it off.
  • Most versatile shirt I’ve seen! Fits through pregnancy, perfect for nursing and it has a flattering fit when I am neither!
  • Long tank, good for a growing belly, or the movement of a full-time mommy.
  • Neck line keeps you covered but fold over makes for easy nursing entry.
  • I don’t have to flash my tummy to nurse a baby!
  • Perfect for outdoor adventures but also a night in town.

Nays:

None, I love everything about this top.

  1. I was just gifted my first article of mountai mamma clothing and it is officially the softest material ever! With the weather getting cooler I would LOVE a hoody to go with my tank!

  2. I haven’t tried any of these products yet, but they are all super cute! My favorite is the hoodie 🙂 and hopefully I will win so I can try one out for free!

  3. I love so much of their products and so badly want to try some. My favs are the Fairview, Lassen, San Juan Hoodie, and Trinity pant. Way to many to pick only one fav!

  4. I just ordered my first item from Mountain-Mama yesterday – the Olympia Softshell Maternity Pullover! I walk my Border Collie 4 miles every morning and it’s getting chillier as the sun is rising later. All my winter running clothes are too tight with my 17 week belly. The Olympia Softshell Maternity Pullover will allow me to continue my favorite part of the day throughout the rest of my pregnancy!

  5. I love Mountain Mama! I am just entering into my second trimester and have started wearing the adjustable yoga pants. I don’t want to wear anything else when I climb at the gym they are so wonderful! My husband surprised me with one of the tanks that I have yet to wear and I’m really looking forward to using more of the clothes as I progress in pregnancy. Can’t say enough good things about them! 🙂

  6. I love the hiking pants! I think they are the only ones on the market for pregnant women and more brands should get a clue. Active, outdoorsy women don’t want to stop enjoying their favorite activities just because they are pregnant. The baselayers are my second favorite for the same reason. I live in these all winter.

  7. OOOO love the Harper Hoodie! This gear makes me WANT to be pregnant again (how is that even possible?!?!? ;)) Though if I win, I may share with my very pregnant (and active) cute Sister in Law 😉

  8. I think i like EVERYTHING crossover on the website because it looks cute, comfy and functional. So far all the maternity/nursing clothes I found do not look cute on non-pregnant or smaller bellied folk. THANKS ALYSSA!

  9. Have not tried any of their maternity clothes but all look and sound SO comfy! I am 31 weeks now and am starting in that phase where my belly hangs out the bottom and is cold!:) That hoodie surely would come in handy until Thanksgiving when baby is set to arrive!

  10. I love these tops–http://www.mountain-mama.com/collections/fall-winter-maternity-nursing-apparel/products/whitney-long-sleeve-eco-tee-3-pack#.UGM2xK645sk

  12. What awesome products! I’m sure their hooded jackets are their best sellers, they are SO difficult to come by in maternity stores and at a certain point (only 27 weeks for me!) you just can’t get by with your regular sized hoodies. Def my favorite!

  14. Just found out that we’re expecting #2…and I just discovered Mountain Mama! Here’s to a pregnancy with outdoor clothing that will actually fit 🙂 And the product that I think will be my favorite the Tali Yoga Wrap. I’m all about clothing that will work for maternity and nursing.
