Great family trips through the northeast

Families looking for adventure and charm should pack up and head to the Northeast. The region is one of America’s greatest treasures. There are so many places to explore, making it the perfect choice for a family-friendly spring break.

The vacation possibilities in the Northeast are endless, whether you are looking for historical sights, delicious food or simply some laughs. Here are some wonderful travel options for a fun-filled trip through the Northeast.

The Berkshires

The Berkshires in the western region of Massachusetts and Connecticut is a destination that is equally lovely and exciting. The landscape is mountainous and breathtaking to drive through. When your kids are ready to break free from the car, there are plenty of places to run free and make some memories.

To experience some aquatic fun, check out Wet N’ Wild Water & Sports Rentals. Lake Pontoosuc is perfect for children of all ages. Younger kids will love splashing around in the water while older kids and teens will enjoy tubing or waterskiing. The entire family can enjoy kayaking together and taking in the view.

For a historical outing, head to Hancock Shaker Village. Your kids can experience the olden days of the Shakers in this historical landmark. Animal lovers will enjoy the barn where there are lambs, calves, roosters, pigs, ducks and turkeys. Your kids can experience the Shaker lifestyle by trying on clothes or trying out the loom. You can even by some fresh produce to bring home!

 Nantucket

Nantucket is a small island with a huge amount of heart. The cobblestone streets, stunning beaches and picturesque lighthouses make it look like a postcard come to life. There is so much to see, from museums and antique shops to relaxing on the beach or deep sea fishing. Nantucket is the kind of place where your family can meander through the town, on foot or on bike, without a plan and enjoy every moment.

If you would prefer a more structured game plan, visit the wildlife refuge. Your family can hike through the land, checking out sea birds and osprey. The more adventurous families can try their hands at surf-fishing or off-roading across the shore. You can have an exhilarating experience while taking in exquisite natural beauty.

Newport, Rhode Island

For the feeling of a fairytale come to life, Newport is the place to be. Your kids will be amazed at all the Newport Mansions have to offer. Their imaginations will go into overdrive at the Green Animals Topiary Garden. There are over 80 pieces of topiary to explore, from animals to geometric shapes and ornamental figures. Marble House is enchanting for children who pretend to be royalty. No matter what mansion you choose, there will be something special to explore.

If your family is eager to explore on foot, the scenic view of Cliff Walk is the perfect place to do it. It is 3.5 miles of amazing views and astounding architecture. There are parts of the walk that suit any age, while others are more cumbersome and may be difficult for young children or the elderly to traverse. Use the walk to teach your kids about geology, as some of the “rocks” are actually fossilized plants, quartz or metavolcanic rock. Cliff Walk is an experience that your family would never forget.

The Northeast is everything you can want in a spring break location. Your kids can unleash some energy while learning something. You can get your adrenaline pumping or work on relaxation. Don’t forget your camera, because this will be a trip that you’ll want to relive time and time again.
